Where does the membership money go?

The membership dollars go in to the UBPC general fund.  This account is used to fund various expenses that we do not want to have to charge in regular student fees.

What do the UBPC members do?

UBPC members are mostly parents that want the best band experience for their students.  The band parent/UBPC member experience is different for everyone, depending on the amount of time each person has available to commit.  Generally speaking, members volunteer, attend UBPC meetings, fundraise, watch practices together, help with special events, travel with the band, chaperone on trips, provide hospitality for judges and other events, make friends with other parents and cheer on the band.  UBPC members are there to answer questions (especially for 1st year marching students – yikes!) and support you when your student graduates (try not to think about it – it will be here before you know it!)

Some companies will match or donate if you volunteer! Don’t hesitate to ask! Some of our band parents have received hundreds of dollars in donations just by asking!

we need you!

We all have one thing in common: we love our students!

CONSTRUCTION near UNION H.S. BAND BUILDING

A major utilities project is underway in the outdoors walkways connected to the Band Building, which has forced temporary closures of normally used areas.

Current closures include:

  1. the stadium field side doors of both Band Rooms

  2. the stairway at the west end of the Band Building

  3. the wide ramp walkway between the Band Building and the Main Building

  4. the ramp hallway connecting to BR3.

The following procedures will be used to bypass the stairway and rampway closures:

  1. Students may enter/exit the main building via the Atrium doors daily prior to 9:20am, at which point these doors will be locked for entry. Exit of the main building via these may take place at any time.

  2. Students may ENTER the Band Building via its West Doors as usual, however as noted above access from the stairway and ramp walkway will not be available. Passage FROM the Atrium exit to the Band Building remains an available passage.

  3. Students may ENTER the Band Building via its North/Bus Loop doors as usual, with these doors remaining unlocked only until 8:35am daily.  These doors will remain locked during the school day per standard procedure, hence student entry into the Band Building via the North doors will not be available during the school day.

  4. Students may EXIT the Band Building via its North/Bus Loop doors as usual.  Access to the Main Building remains as normal: via the bus loop black gate and the quad glass doors per normal daily hours (unlocked before school) OR via the UHS Bus Loop doors, as per usual.

Students may not use the BR1 or BR2 south (field side) doors for entry/exit of the Band Building; there is no bypass available for this issue. Other Band Building entry/exit options must be used during the construction closure.

Additional closures are anticipated during the course of the project.

When complete, the work projects will resolve two significant issues: (1) restoration of water/sewer service to the east/visitors side of Union HS Stadium, and (2) flooding of Band Room #3 during & following heavy rainfall.

We understand that these closures have created inconveniences. There is not a projected completion date currently available, but we have been assured that the construction contractor will work as quickly as possible and appreciates our patience & cooperation during the project.
