7th, 8th, & 9th Graders who auditioned into the NBDA All-District Honor Band will participate in a Clinic & Concert led by distinguished clinician conductors and featuring elevated repertoire.

Friday, February 17: CLINICS

  • SCHEDULE

    • 8:00am ***Freshmen Only*** First period Union H.S. concert band classes meet as normal

    • PRE-CLINIC INTER-CAMPUS TRANSPORTATION

      • 9:55am 7th Grade Members: SHUTTLE BUS from U67GC to UHS

      • 9:45am 8th Grade Members: SHUTTLE BUS from U8GC to UHS 
        CLINIC SESSIONS

    • 10:00am Clinic registration & seating

    • 10:30am Morning Rehearsal 

    • 12:30pm Lunch Break

      • 9th Graders

        • Students may choose between:

          • Ride bus to local lunch location (multiple restaurant options); paid on-your-own.

          • Bring your own lunch

        • Please RSVP here

      • 7th & 8th Graders

        • Students may choose between:  

          • Pizza Lunch served on campus; location is the UMAC Classrooms. Includes at least 3 slices of pizza, and bottled water. $5 billed to the student’s CHARMS account.

          • Bring-Your-Own lunch.

        • Parent volunteers are requested: click here

    • 2:00pm Afternoon Rehearsal

    • 5:00pm Dismissal

    • Please plan for transportation home from Union High School.

    • WEAR: Comfortable but within school dress code and that which represents Union well


NBDA POLICIES

  • Absence from a full morning, afternoon, or evening rehearsal session will result in the automatic termination of the participant.

  • The band chairperson will deal with any absence or substantial tardiness after consultation with the clinician and the student’s band director. The chairperson’s decision will be final. 

  • The band chairperson will also have the authority and responsibility to lower chair positions and/or remove the student from the band if his/her conduct in any way become a problem. The chairperson is expected to support the clinician in matters concerning student conduct. 

  • If a student is not able to attend the clinic or concert, please have your director contact the district president so an alternate can be contacted. In addition, please send your folder with your director to the clinic for the other players to use.

    • 8:45am In-chair and ready for Rehearsal

    • 9:00am Morning Clinic Rehearsal

    • 1:15pm ALL GROUPS CHANGE INTO CONCERT ATTIRE AFTER LUNCH. 9th Graders will wear Union-issued concert attire, 7th and 8th Graders will wear standard concert black.  

    • 1:30pm Pre-Concert WARM-UP

    • CONCERTS 

      • LOCATION: Union Performing Arts Center. Free admission. 

      • SCHEDULE of PERFORMANCES

        • 2:00pm 7th Grade Band PERFORMANCE

        • 2:30pm (approx) 8th Grade Band PERFORMANCE

        • 3:00pm (approx) 9th Grade Band PERFORMANCE

UHS Bands Spring Concert: Concert Winds, Symphonic Band, Symphonic Winds, Wind Ensemble

TIMES

  • AUDIENCE

    • UPAC Audience DOORS OPEN at 6:45pm

  • STUDENT ARRIVAL

    • Concert Winds students will begin warm-up at 6:00pm on the UPAC Stage

    • Symphonic Band students will begin warm-up at 6:15pm in Band Room #3.

    • Symphonic Winds students will begin warm-up at 6:30pm in Band Room #1

    • Wind Ensemble students will begin warm-up at 6:30pm in Band Room #2

  • PERFORMANCES

    • The order of performances is Concert Winds, Symphonic Band, Symphonic Winds, and then Wind Ensemble.

    • Following the last piece of the final group, all students will turn in their concert attire, originally checked out in summer/fall of 2024. See all details and policies here.

STUDENT POLICIES

  • Students will wear the school-issue formal concert attire as the mandatory dress for this performance.

  • Students will observe each other’s performances.

OCU 2024 Saxophone Day, ft. Nicki Roman

What: The OCU Saxophone Day is an annual event open to saxophonists of all backgrounds and skill levels, age 11+. This exciting event features guest artist masterclasses, workshops, a guest artist recital, exhibitors, vendors, and a large saxophone choir. Each year, a world-class saxophonist is featured as a special guest artist. 

This year’s featured artist is: Dr. Nicki Roman! 

Dr. Nicki Roman is the Professor of Saxophone at the University of Illinois School of Music, saxophonist with Splinter Reeds, and Selmer Paris & Vandoren Artist. Click here to learn more…
