Friday, February 17: CLINICS

  • SCHEDULE

    • 8:00am ***Freshmen Only*** First period Union H.S. concert band classes meet as normal

    • PRE-CLINIC INTER-CAMPUS TRANSPORTATION

      • 9:55am 7th Grade Members: SHUTTLE BUS from U67GC to UHS

      • 9:45am 8th Grade Members: SHUTTLE BUS from U8GC to UHS 
        CLINIC SESSIONS

    • 10:00am Clinic registration & seating

    • 10:30am Morning Rehearsal 

    • 12:30pm Lunch Break

      • 9th Graders

        • Students may choose between:

          • Ride bus to local lunch location (multiple restaurant options); paid on-your-own.

          • Bring your own lunch

        • Please RSVP here

      • 7th & 8th Graders

        • Students may choose between:  

          • Pizza Lunch served on campus; location is the UMAC Classrooms. Includes at least 3 slices of pizza, and bottled water. $5 billed to the student’s CHARMS account.

          • Bring-Your-Own lunch.

    • 2:00pm Afternoon Rehearsal

    • Please plan for transportation home from Union High School.

NBDA POLICIES

  • Absence from a full morning, afternoon, or evening rehearsal session will result in the automatic termination of the participant.

  • The band chairperson will deal with any absence or substantial tardiness after consultation with the clinician and the student’s band director. The chairperson’s decision will be final. 

  • The band chairperson will also have the authority and responsibility to lower chair positions and/or remove the student from the band if his/her conduct in any way become a problem. The chairperson is expected to support the clinician in matters concerning student conduct. 

  • If a student is not able to attend the clinic or concert, please have your director contact the district president so an alternate can be contacted. In addition, please send your folder with your director to the clinic for the other players to use.

Selected students are expected to fully prepare the clinic repertoire prior to the clinic rehearsals.

ITINERARY

  • Friday, January 13, 2023

    • Attend all UHS band class rehearsals as originally scheduled. Students are excused from all other class hours.

    • 9:45am Depart Union H.S. via bus

    • 11:00am Lunch (on-your-own) near Bartlesville mall [McDonald’s or bring your own lunch]

    • 11:45am Depart from lunch for Bartlesville H.S. 

    • 12:00pm Clinic registration and seating 

    • 12:30pm Rehearsal

      • Wind Ensemble on stage (instrument cases stored backstage)

      • Symphonic Band in band room (instrument cases stored in the upstairs band room)

    • 2:30pm Break

    • 2:45pm Rehearsal resumes

    • 5:00pm Dinner break in Commons Area.

      • Boxed dinner served (sign up here); $10 will be automatically billed to each student's CHARMS account for this meal unless student indicates he/she has different meal arrangements. 

      • Students may NOT explore Bartlesville H.S. during this time; consider bringing card games, etc. for leisure time following the meal.

    • 6:30pm Rehearsal resumes

    • 8:30pm Dismissal, load buses. Percussionists swap equipment between rehearsal spaces.

    • 8:45pm Depart Bartlesville

    • 10:00pm Arrive at Union H.S.

    • 7:15am UHS Band Area open (parking available in UHS northeast lot)

    • 7:30am Depart Union H.S. via bus for Bartlesville

    • 9:00am Rehearsal

      • Symphonic Band on stage

      • Wind Ensemble in band room (instrument cases may be stored in the orchestra room)

    • 11:30am Lunch break (bus transportation to restaurant area; students must bring money or their own lunch)  

    • 12:30pm Depart lunch location to Bartlesville H.S.

    • 1:00pm Rehearsal continues

    • 2:00pm Dress for performance (wear Union Concert Attire or concert-black for ladies) if not already dressed.

    • 2:30pm Warm Up in ensembles

    • 3:00pm Honor concerts in Bartlesville H.S. Performing Arts Center.

      • Free admission for spectators

    • 5:00pm (approx) Bus departure for Union H.S. for those students who aren't riding home with family 

    • 6:00pm (approx) Bus arrives at Union H.S.

      • (REHEARSAL) comfortable but within school dress code and that which represents Union well, unless you prefer to wear the performance attire for the entirety of the day.

      • (PERFORMANCE) Concert Attire, including black shoes/socks. 

        • Change clothes must happen in the school restroom or restroom of the lunch location.


NOTES

  • Parents: we strongly encourage you to join us at 3pm on Saturday in Bartlesville for the performance.

  • We extend special thanks to our clinic/concert hosts at Bartlesville Public Schools.

  •  In the event of inclement weather, it's highly unlikely that the clinic and/or concert will be rescheduled.

CLINIC POLICIES & PROCEDURES

  • Bartlesville High School classes will be in session on their campus; NBDA participants cannot disrupt the normal school day while on campus.

  • The NBDA clinic spaces are limited to the fine arts areas (‘FAC’) of Bartlesville High School (rehearsal rooms, PAC, and lobby). Do not explore other areas of the campus. Remain on the 1st Floor of the building. Do not enter the gym.

    • Dinnertime on Friday night will take place in the Commons area.

  • Though not mandatory, please consider the health and safety of others by wearing a face mask when not eating or playing a wind instrument.

NBDA CLINIC POLICIES

  • The ensemble chairperson has the authority and responsibility to lower chair positions and/or remove the student from the band if his/her conduct in any way become a problem. The chairperson is expected to support the clinician in matters concerning student conduct. 

  • If a student is not able to attend the clinic or concert, please have your director contact the district president so an alternate performer can be contacted. In addition, please send your folder with your director to the clinic for the other alternate player to use.
